Jessica Lesmeister of Henderson Nevada was walking along Foothills Drive on the evening of January 2nd when she was hit by a passing car and severely injured. The 32-year-old mother of one is said to be in serious condition with a severe head injury, multiple subsequent strokes, and a badly broken leg. Police described the vehicle that hit Lesmeister as a red Dodge Charger that fled the scene of the accident. After investigation, police were able to find the driver of the Charger, 23-year-old Ian Benjamin Acklin at his home in Henderson. Acklin claimed that he was not driving the vehicle, but police were able to pin him to the incident. Acklin was arrested on counts of DUI, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and failure to render aid. Unfortunately, it is unclear if Lesmeister will be able to make a full recovery at this time. Car accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area.
