Man in Wheelchair Hit and Killed By SUV, Good Samaritan Also Injured
A man who tipped over in his wheelchair in the street and a person assisting him were both hit by an SUV in downtown Las Vegas on the evening of June 3rd.
According to police, the 67-year-old man in the wheelchair died at University Medical Center following the incident. The man attempting to help him up only suffered minor injuries.
The incident was reported around 11:30 p.m. at 4th Street and Bridger Avenue.
A 2013 Ford Escape hit both men after passing a stalled vehicle in the road with its hazard lights on.
The driver of the Escape, a 65-year-old man was not hurt in the incident and did not show any signs of impairment, according to police.
The unfortunate death marks the 55th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police jurisdiction in the year 2021.
The incident remains under investigation.
