One Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-15
Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash between a tractor-trailer and a wrong-way driver that killed one woman on the morning of May 9th.
According to police, the crash occurred around 6:15 a.m. on I-15 northbound, near the Valley of Fire.
A blue Honda Civic was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near mile marker 77 when she struck the front of a tractor-trailer head-on. The Civic was sent off of the highway and onto the dirt median.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Cristal Velasquez, 29, of Las Vegas.
The death marks the 30th traffic-related fatality in NHP’s Southern Command jurisdiction for 2021.
