Two People Killed in Southeast Las Vegas Crash, DUI Suspected
Las Vegas Police have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of DUI after a head-on crash that left two people dead on the morning of April 23rd.
According to police, the two vehicles collided around 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of North Lamb Boulevard and East Cecile Avenue in the northeast valley.
Investigators have determined that 23-year-old Avery Nellems was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue on Lamb Boulevard when he traveled over the center line and struck a 2015 Nissan Versa head-on.
Both the driver and passenger of the Nissan Versa died at the scene of the crash.
Nellems was taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries and later arrested with two counts of DUI resulting in death.
This crash marked the 36th and 37th traffic-related fatalities investigated by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police in the year 2021.
