Car Crash Near McCarran Airport Kills One
Detectives were on the scene of a fatal crash near McCarran Airport Tuesday night, said Las Vegas police. This incident marked the 73rd fatality for the year, "which is way too many," said Lt. Brett Ficklin.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the crash occurred around 8 p.m. near Russell Road and Maryland Parkway.
One driver died at the scene, while the other stayed at the scene with minor injuries. Lt. Ficklin said a Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Russell when it was hit by a Chrysler 300 on the rear passenger side.
The 300 lost control before the crash, first hitting a traffic pole then eventually hitting the Honda, according to Ficklin. Detectives were on scene investigating what happened. Impairment is not believed to be a factor.
The deceased Chrysler driver was identified by police as a 46-year-old man.
