A pedestrian who was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident last week has died. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Leeland Rayburn, 37 years old, passed away at University Medical Center on Wednesday, just ten days after the incident took place. On January 3rd, officers responded to an incident at Joe W. Brown Drive and East Sahara Avenue after Rayburn was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which fled the scene. Investigators said Rayburn was walking in and out of traffic and was not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle. The driver of the Jeep had not been arrested as of Thursday's statement from the Metropolitan Police Department.
