One Dead After Head-On Collision in West Las Vegas Valley
One person has died after a car crash in the west Las Vegas Valley on Friday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 11 am Friday morning near West Charleston Boulevard and Heavenly Hills Court near Durango Drive. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a Kia SUV traveling eastbound on Charleston was struck by a Ford Expedition that crossed the center turn lane traveling westbound.
The driver of the Kia SUV was pronounced dead at the scene with the Clark County Coroner’s Office later identifying the 75-year-old Las Vegas man and ruling the death an accident with the cause of death being blunt force trauma.
The driver of the Ford SUV was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. According to Las Vegas police, impairment was suspected and a blood sample analysis is pending.
This crash is the 70th traffic-related fatality in the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for 2022.
