79-year-old Passenger Dies After Car Accident in West Las Vegas Valley
A 79-year-old woman died Wednesday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash in the west Las Vegas Valley, marking the 62nd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2020.
The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Decatur and Oakey boulevards, said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
According to LVMPD, a Nissan Altima was making a left turn from southbound Decatur onto Oakey and struck the front of a northbound Kia Optima. The Kia hit the Nissan on the right side, causing the Nissan’s bumper to be thrown into the intersection, hitting a car at the stoplight.
The Kia driver and the Nissan driver and passenger were transported to University Medical Center for treatment. On Wednesday, police were notified that the passenger in the Nissan, a 79-year-old woman, died from her injuries.
