The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that an officer was injured in a hit-and-run that occurred during a routine traffic stop on Friday, April 22nd. The incident occurred on an onramp near the I-15 northbound freeway and US 95 North. Authorities say that a LVMPD motorcycle officer had stopped a car with California license plates for a traffic violation. The vehicle pulled over for the officer, but when the officer parked the motorcycle behind the vehicle, the operator of the vehicle put the vehicle into reverse and rammed the motorcycle before fleeing the scene. Las Vegas Police contacted California law enforcement and the suspect was later apprehended in Baker California by California Highway Patrol. LVMPD says the investigation of this incident is ongoing. “Car accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area. At Edward M Bernstein and Associates, we take these accidents seriously.
