According to Las Vegas police officers, a driver has been arrested and is suspected of driving under the influence after allegedly fleeing the scene of a deadly pedestrian-car accident before going into a grocery store to shop just moments after the incident. The arrest report stated that at 11:11 am last Thursday, the man was driving a Hyundai Sonata on East Tropicana Avenue when an unidentified female walked in front of the vehicle, outside of a marked crosswalk. The woman was later pronounced dead at the scene. A bus driver witnessed the crash and watched as the Hyundai drove off before parking in an Albertsons parking lot on Boulder Highway. Police arrived at the Albertsons within minutes, finding the Hyundai. Police said there was damage to the front end of the vehicle and a broken windshield. Police identified the driver of the vehicle with the help of surveillance cameras, allowing them to quickly locate the man who was still shopping inside the grocery store. The driver is now facing DUI charges, as well as reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. Blood draw test results of the driver are still pending at this time. “Car accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area. At Edward M Bernstein and Associates, we take these accidents seriously.
