Patrol Car Struck by Intoxicated Driver in North Las Vegas
Sunday night in North Las Vegas, a Las Vegas police officer’s patrol vehicle was struck by a driver now facing charges of driving under the influence for the second time.
The officer was traveling southbound on Camino Al Norte and approaching La Madre Way when the pickup driver failed to yield the right of way while pulling into the intersection, striking the patrol vehicle. Luckily, neither the officer nor the suspect were injured in the incident.
According to police, the driver showed signs of impairment, performing poorly on field sobriety tests before blowing a .259% on a breathalyzer test, more than three times the legal limit.
If found guilty, this will be the driver’s second DUI charge. He is also facing charges for not having a driver’s license, insurance, or registration.
